Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect on my first visit?
First & foremost a friendly welcome to the clinic. We will have a chat about the history of your condition before a thorough musclo-skeletal examination takes place. You will be accurately diagnosed & given a detailed explanation of what is causing your condition. Its likely you will have some hands on treatment, exercise rehabilitation & ongoing preventative strategies.
How many appointments will I require?
Essentially, this is completely your decision. This will be dependent on a number of factors including your diagnosis & the severity of your pain. We always endeavour to keep the number of follow ups to a minimum. We don’t believe in bringing you back to the clinic time & time again. On average we see patients on 2-4 occasions. Its rare you will need to be seen more than 6 occasions. If you just wish to be seen the once for a diagnosis & advice that can often be enough to make the difference.
Can you refer me for scans or to see a specialist?
Yes absolutely. If appropriate we can refer directly for private scans. We also have links with the best consultants/surgeons in South Wales if you need onward referral. If a referral is necessary the clinic will organise this for you. We can also liase with your GP if appropriate.
Is hands on physiotherapy painful?
No, the treatments we give are pain free for the most part. You may have some minor post treatment soreness which will last a day or so.
I am unsure if Physiotherapy is for me, can I call to ask?
Absolutely. Contact us any time. Always happy to answer any questions or queries you may have.
What do I need to bring with me for my appointment?
You will need to bring shorts, T-shirt/vest top depending what body part is injured. Also bring any scans or medical letters you may have.
